"Acid Rain" is the eighth track off of Cimorelli's debut album Up At Night.
Background[]
"Acid Rain" was solely written by Lauren Cimorelli and its lyrics have to do with the aftermath of a breakup and a toxic relationship. The song is one of the most prominent on the album.
Most likely the song was inspired by real events experienced by Lauren, as during one of their shows she started crying while singing and couldn't continue. Despite this, she later cited Sunsets and Heartbreak as their saddest song.
As it was highly requested from the fans, Lauren released the original demo of the song on her soundcloud account. [1]
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1: Dani]
Paint me a picture
Show me your colors
I’m gone when I’m with you
But I’m better than ever
[Chorus: Lauren]
I breathe you in
You breathe me out
You just take it all away
You’re acid rain in an endless drought
But you make it all okay
[Verse 2: Katherine]
Take me to your place
You set me on fire
You tell me it’s okay
While you burn me alive
[Chorus: Amy]
I breathe you in
You breathe me out
You just take it all away
You’re acid rain in an endless drought
But you make it all okay
[Bridge: Lauren]
You tell me that you want me
But we both know that’s not true
Cause you’re a beautiful disaster
And I’ll never be good enough for you
Think you’re addicted to the chase
Think I’m addicted to the pain
[Chorus: Christina & Lisa]
I breathe you in
You breathe me out
And you play me like a game
You’re in my veins
Can’t get you out
I’m addicted to the pain
Cause you don’t have a piece of me
You’ve got all of me
And you’re never gonna change
I let you in
You let me down
Cause you’re never gonna stay
[Outro: Dani]
You are never gonna stay
You are never gonna stay
You are never gonna stay
You are never gonna stay
